Lates angustifrons

In September 2008, Jakub Vágner led an expedition to the Lake Tanganyika. The aim was to catch one of the world’s biggest freshwater fish with the Latin name Lates angustifrons.

The expedition was very successful and apart from this species, another two known species in the Lake Tanganyika could be mapped. The biggest catch of the Lates angustifrons had 35 kg. The triumph of this expedition was the discovery of one new species of big perch that had not been scientifically described before.
